Lyrics

Star and star overhead
As I look up under Your works
Like Your promise to Abraham
As he counts those stars again

Shining bright lights in Your skies
So much higher than I
Yet twinkling twilight sparkles in Your eyes
In Your eyes
And You can love someone like I?
I wonder why...

Under starry skies...

From the stars in Your hands
To the Word who has become man
And how You crossed the grand chasm
Between man and the great I AM

Shining bright lights in Your skies
So much higher than I
Yet twinkling twilight sparkles in Your eyes
In Your eyes
And You can love someone like I?
I wonder why...

I wonder why...
Under Your starry skies

Notes

  • In case there's ever any confusion about the lyrics in the second verse, I believe that God bridged the gap between the broken relationship between God and us (humanity) through His Son, Jesus Christ. Hopefully the lyrics can show the various aspects of Jesus being man, but also being God.
  • Changed "us" to "man" (as in "mankind") in Verse 2 to hopefully clarify the intended meaning. References: Merriam Webster Dictionary
